Assumes responsibility for the performance of routine, standardized biological and/or biochemical tests, as well as more complex procedures on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids and other specimens that assist physicians in the diagnosis and clinical management of patients.  Assumes responsibility for actively contributing to the section’s productive and cost effectiveness.  Assumes responsibility for recognizing results or problems that require referral to Section Supervisor, Pathologists or Administrative Coordinator.  Performs additional tasks as requested by Chairman of Pathology or his/her designee.

Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or sciences.  Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques which would normally be obtained through a formal four year college/university program.  Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technology, such as American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred.
