Description: Responsible for implementation of leading edge, high quality and cost-effective clinical services that achieve excellence in patient, staff, and customer satisfaction. In consultation with the Department Chair develops and is responsible for and manages clinical processes, essential clinical and PI goals, and the monthly physician and PA staffing for the adult ED, pediatric ED and Fast Track. In collaboration with the Chair develops clear clinical performance expectations and holds physicians accountable for a high level of performance which includes superior outcomes and collaborative behaviors that support entire care team.
In collaboration with the Chair is responsible for quality improvement indicators and participates in PI program review.
In collaboration with the Chair, assures the Department’s compliance with all State, Federal, and Regulatory agencies such as JCAHO, NJ DOH, and HCFA/EMTALA.
Assists the Chair in developing successful strategies for areas such as:
• Physician/Administrative/Nursing/Communications • Appointing key physicians to program/project teams as required for program expansion • Enhancing the successful business management of the ED • Utilization of NP’s and PA’s
In collaboration with the Chair, is responsible for the development of clinical pathways and clinical practice guidelines that reflect the highest quality, cost efficient care that provides the highest patient satisfaction.
In collaboration with the Chair assists in the creation of emergency medicine benchmark practices that are reflected in day-to-day care, clinical pathways, and new leading-edge technologies.
Provides direction and leadership for:
• Emergency medicine attendings • Residents/interns • Teaching of medical students • Credentialing Standards • Attendance at professional meetings, etc. • Conflict resolution • Clinical research
Attends Department of Emergency Medicine Executive Committee meetings and full department business meetings as well as operational and staff meetings of the Emergency Department and hospital committees as may be requested by the Chair and/or Hospital administration.
Maintains all academic and clinical performance expectations of residency core faculty as defined by Department policy and the residency core faculty job description.
Requirements: NJ Physician licensure Board Certified Physician
