Description: Summary: Bed Manager Manages the shift operations to optimize patient flow. Prioritizes the admissions of both internal & external patients while with the interdisciplinary team.
Function:
Maintains patient throughput - continually evaluating placement progress. Establishes and directs plan for placement of all admissions and transfers, concurrently and prospectively.
Circulates through hospital - constantly evaluating all needs for patient placement. Acts as central contact for decisions related to bed management during the shift of assignment. Includes closures, bed meetings, critical bed status decisions.
Facilitate communication and coordination intra-hospital, interacting in a respectful manner that takes into account special needs or age related needs. Collaborate with nursing to move patients to higher/lower levels of care. Maintains and communicates global picture of hospital capacity at all times.
Deliver excellent customer service by exhibiting courtesy, direction, image, introduction, dignity, comfort, information, response, confidentiality and teamwork as defined in the customer service standards.
Participates in projects, data collection, and other activities designed to enhance bed operations.
Liase with transportation to provide seamless transfer of patients to assigned units
Liaise with admitting to ensure all patients have banded identification in conjunction with hospital policy & consents obtained
Admission Nurse Practitioner
When appropriate, reviews results of all diagnostic testing determining and referring for further testing, complete intitial patient order set. Provides patient/significant other education according to needs, and plan of care; documents same
Requirements: Current and active NJ RN licensure Advanced Practice Nurse Certification required BLS/ACLS/PALS Certification required Strong current and recent clinical experience in Emergency Department or Bed Managment specialty required Demonstrate strong Leadership and management skills Excellent verbal and written communications Excellent interpersonal skills
Two 12 hour shifts 2PM to 2AM Weekend shifts required
